Building Community Partnerships

Across 2020 we focused on building strong community partnerships. With our charitable organisation based in, and serving the Geelong community, we need the support of the local community to help us flourish. We embarked on building key relationships in a number of community sectors including, building and construction, service providers, volunteers, hospitality, education, primary producers, government, funding groups, business and marketing.

By reaching out to connect with a broad range of community groups we have grown our support base, raised awareness of our work, as well as encouraged business to become actively involved in addressing the growing need of the vulnerable in our area.

Our strong partnership with the Anthony Costa Foundation, who has offered financial assistance towards the building of our drive-thru facility as well as our food hamper program, has ensured the continued operation of our projects.

A new relationship with Geelong builder, Homes With Integrity, has seen them offer their time and expertise to help construct our new facility. They have been extremely supportive of the project and their involvement has helped us to progress the building project across 2020. Our current goal is to begin the construction of the facility early in 2021. Other construction firms namely Simon Anderson Consulting and KVA design have also stepped up to support us towards reaching our building goals.

We remain in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Society and Barwon Health who assist us in identifying families in need and referring them to our food relief service. We anticipate growing our contacts within the Geelong service provider network in order to connect with a diverse range of families in the future.

We continue to work closely with Sacred Heart College and will endeavour to expand our presence in local secondary and primary schools to help educate young people about the social issues confronting some Geelong residents and to provide opportunities for outreach work for students.

Partnerships with primary producers such as the one shared with Vince, Claire and the Colla family offer the opportunity for fresh, local produce to be utilised in our kitchen. We hope to offer the opportunity for farmers to put their produce straight into the mouths of the hungry.

We are also proud to have a partnership with Social Seedlings who are working to grow our social media presence.
